Atlas

I'm always trolling Bibliodyssey for inspiration and I'm often struck by how modern some of the images and designs can seem, though they are hundreds of years old. Love the elegant color of these and the dramatic horizontal layout. Especially that top image.

I may be gearing up to work some tiny landscapes into my paintings... hmm hmmm hmm.

Summer?

This is my first summer in San Diego and I don't know what to make of it because it doesn't feel like anything like summer.

The temperature has barely topped out at 85 degrees. And it doesn't stay dark as late. We eat outside almost every night. And we ride bikes on the weekend and have picnics. The windows in the house are always open.

I guess I will have to find a way to adjust.

To my friends back in Austin where it's going to be 100 all week, I feel for you. I truly do. Enjoy the summer. I'm over here enjoying never-ending spring!

Hawaii

I feel lucky to have returned from my second trip to Hawaii. It's an amazing place. This trip, we stayed in Waimanalo on Oahu which is on the southeast, non-touristy side of the island. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

It's local, quaint, not crowded and still had more than we needed. The mountains are super close and go straight up in the typical dramatic Hawaii fashion. The beach is a nice long stretch pure white clean sand with crystal aqua water. Kailua, an adorable little beach town is up the road about 15 minutes and the big city is just over the hill. (Don't miss the Farmer's Market on Thursday nights by Longs Drugstore)

It'll be all downhill for the rest of this summer but....sigh.... there is no act that can follow Hawaii.

Everything!

There's many more things happening, than my brain can handle. Like moving into a new house. Unpacking belongings. Deciding where to put them. Putting them anywhere you find an open spot. Looking for those things later when you can't remember where you put them. And some painting in my new studio. And, Hawaii.

Yes, I said Hawaii. Leaving for that place in a few days. Trying to remember what "hot" feels like so that I can pack the right clothing. And loving that I barely remember. And it's June.

Like I said, it's a lot of things!! I think when I feel sand on my feet..... then, I will have it all under control.

Before I go, look at this apartment in the U.S.S.R. Love the green with white, the exposed pipes and the historical element
